Sunday Evening June 22nd 2014
Just a short post & a few photos from our evening dinner cruising towards Cologne.
We attended the Captain's welcome cocktail party at 6.30pm & like on the previous cruise each lady was handed a rose by the captain. We also had champagne & nibbles before being introduced to the heads of departments & their staff.
Next we headed up the the rear of the ship to the Erlebinis Restaurant for dinner. For those who were on the previous 2 cruises with us, you will be interested to know that the setup is quite different, with 2 tables of 12 rather than 4 x 6.
Parts of the menu were the same (appetiser & soup), however the main was different. This time we had a choice of Guinea Fowl & herb crusted salmon. I chose the guinea fowl & Mike had the salmon. It was really nice & moist, but to be perfectly honest, it was very much like chicken.
Dessert was a collection of 3 mini's, I can't remember exactly what they were but very nice. The wine we had was a local German Reisling, very good.
The restaurant was not full and we were seated with 5 others we had not met before. They were nice, however, the experience was not anywhere near as good as when we were with our group of friends on the last 2 ships. Maybe you guys could fly back & meet us for the next one???
After just a small nightcap (takeaway) we wandered back to our cabin & sat on the balcony to watch the sunset. It was a beautiful clear evening and was still light at 10.30pm as you can see in these last 2 photos.
