Cochem, Germany

Monday June 16th, 2014

Yes much cooler today & we are really noticing it after weeks of warm to hot sunny days. Still no rain though which is good for us when out & about, however, the water levels of both the Rhine & Moselle rivers is quite low due to the warm Winter & lack of rain during Spring as I mentioned in an earlier. It's OK now, although there is a chance at some stage in our next cruise, we may have our trip interrupted by the low water levels. No point being concerned now though as nothing to be done.

We are currently on the Moselle River and will rejoin the Rhine tonight at Koblenz just before we stop at Andernach for our Gala Dinner at Burg Namedy Castle.

Today is going to be an enforced rest day as I have succumbed to the cold bug which Mike has had & many others on our trip as well. I have tried to fight it off but even the alcohol has not helped. Because we will be revisiting this area again next week on our Amsterdam to Budapest tour we have given todays excursion, a walking tour through Cochem & visit to the castle, a miss. I am hoping by tonight I will be OK for the Burg Namedy Castle dinner tonight.

This is the towel animal (elephant) left this morning by our cabin steward:

Not many photos yet today as we are docked very low & not much to see from our cabin. If I get up on deck later will take some then.

There will be plenty to photograph at the castle tonight so I will hopefully do another post tomorrow on the dinner.

Time for a nap.
