Rudersheim

Tuesday Afternoon 24th June

After the morning delay we actually docked a little early this afternoon & Mike & I walked off and hopped on the little train which takes you up to the cable car (Gondola) station. We had done the gondola ride last week so decided to just do our own thing & walk around this quaint little town.

I eventually found the cute tea towels I was looking for last week & we looked at heaps of little cuckoo clocks, however, I couldn't find one I liked which was small enough to take home in our suitcases.

Next we stopped here for a beer (it was hot):

More wandering around checking out the shops but not much purchased. This trip I have managed to curb my usual spending on souvenirs, fridge magnets, postcards etc & am very happy that my suitcase is still quite manageable. So anyone expecting lot's of presents, please think again!

We started the walk back to the ship & stopped again for a coffee (tried the iced Rudesheim Special this time).

Back on board now & waiting for the ship to leave. Think there is a problem as just after we docked one of the ropes broke free from the pier & they couldn't pull it from beneath the ship. When we returned a short they had a diver searching for something under the front of the ship. Hopefully it wasn't a body!!

All good now it seems we are heading off just a little later than scheduled.

Goodbye to beautiful Rudesheim.

Until tomorrow.

Betty & Mike
