This morning we decided not to do a tour in Amsterdam as we had pretty much seen all we had wanted in the last 4 days. All those passengers (about 95%) going on tours in Amsterdam left the ship by 8.30am and we sailed at 8.45am towards Wijk Bij Duurstede where we will pick up those who went on tour at 12.45pm. Apparently they will travel by coach from Amsterdam.
That has turned out to be a very wise choice as we have had a beautiful morning, firstly with a leisurely breakfast, then back to our cabin & sitting out on the balcony in the sun, so relaxing. The balconies are protected on both sides so quite warm. I spent an hour uploading photos, completing and posting yesterdays embarkation blog entry & taking some photos.
We then decided it was time to let our cabin steward clean the cabin so we headed up to the lounge for a coffee & sat with our IPads & cameras chatting to the few others who were around. Lot's of traffic on the Rhine/Amsterdam canal on this Sunday morning & much more scenic than when we sailed in last Thursday, due to the better weather.
We made a brief stop to collect the travellers at 12.30pm, then through a large lock.
Lunch at 1pm, then back to our cabin for a little nap. Then a lemon, lime & bitters on our balcony whilst we we cruised on down (or was it up) the Rhine. Some more balcony shots:
