Naples would be our least favourite port to date. It is large, busy & very dirty with garbage everywhere on the street. It was also very hot with no air-con in the cafe we were in. Traffic was terrible as the cars don't bother to stop at pedestrian crossings. One taxi driver just waved as he almost ran over me! There were also lot's of gypsies & illegal immigrants begging & trying to flog cheap souvenirs everywhere. I guess if we had booked an excursion we would have been taken out of the city & avoided the unpleasantries. Last time we were here (just passing through) in 2010, our tour guide was quite vocal about the negatives of Naples. Now I understand why. We didn't even bother taking any photos in the town as we were busy making sure our valuables were kept safe.
So back on the ship about 3pm, grabbed a cocktail from Deck 14 & sat on our balcony in the cool to enjoy it. Much more civilised! Then for a wee afternoon nap, waking at 5.30pm, just in time to prepare & dress for dinner, allowing time for a pre dinner drink.
Dinner was very good with excellent service from our waiters, although our table numbers dropped to 5 tonight.
When we returned to our cabin I realised we had forgotton to put out our "please make up my room sign" so we were forced to do that & head back down to the bar for a nightcap. The decor on this ship is really lovely & I must remember to take my camera tomorrow and take some photos of the different areas.
Sail-away from Naples was late for the first time today (7.40pm) so just have a couple of balcony photos to share.
