Messina, Sicily - Part 2

We had a good couple of hours in Messina, leaving the ship at 9am & commencing with the hop-on hop-off bus tour which, with the aid of english speaking headphones, gave us a great overview of the city & lot's of photo opportunities as you will see from the photos below. The weather improved greatly with blue skies & warm temps.

After we finished our tour we found a cafe with free WiFi & ordered a coffee so I could upload the last blog entry & download emails etc. We then headed back to the ship around 12MD.

After leaving our bags in the cabin we set out to take some photos around the ship whilst it was relatively  uncrowded. I will put the ship photos in another post. We also had a couple of pre lunch drinks in one of the bars before heading off to lunch.

What an entertaining lunch we had over a 2 hour period! We sat with the couple from Perth who are also on our dinner table & a French couple who spoke no English! We aslo had 4 French people on the next table. So of the 10 we were attempting to converse with, I was the only person who could string together a sentence the French could understand. Maybe the copious amounts of free flowing wine helped but they did understand me. Unfortunately "please pass the milk" was not going to get me very far! Anyway there was lot's of laughter and much fun was had by all. We had one common interest, everyone seemed to like Guiness from Ireland. That was our cultural session for today :)

Time to pull anchor & head towards Tunisia.

Maybe also an afternoon nap :)

Until next time.
